Kambaku Safari Lodge provides the ultimate escape from busy schedules with its home-away-from-home ambiance. Attracting guests from around the world, Kambaku Safari Lodge combines simple luxury with a high level of environmental consciousness – we rely totally on solar power for the production of all our electricity. Accommodation is exclusive yet affordable, meticulously designed, beautifully constructed and tastefully decorated to blend in with the charm and serenity of the surrounding bush. This family friendly lodge has a feeling of relaxed intimacy, accommodates only sixteen guests and is ideal for hosting small family gatherings or groups of friends.
AMBAKU Safari Lodge is well situated in the heart of the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve, which makes up the western boarder of the Kruger National Park. Without fences inhibiting the free movement of game between the reserves, Timbavati becomes part of a vast unspoilt natural wilderness area that lies within the Greater Kruger National Park. KAMBAKU (Solitary Bull elephant), takes its name from one of the ‘Magnificent Seven’ tuskers who roamed the Kruger Park for the greater part of the last century. These elephant were renowned for their impressive tusks – having at least one tusk with the estimated weight of over 60kg. At KAMBAKU lodge the legends linger and are remembered by the naming of each chalet after one of these Magnificent giants of the bush. The chalets, main lodge buildings and the deck area, all overlook a private waterhole where constant wildlife activity can be observed and enjoyed either from the privacy of your chalet or from the main lodge area. The main lodge has a balance between open plan and private space, with a spacious bar and lounge area leading to the mezzanine floor where one can take time out reading – there is a small library available – or just simply dream away in tranquil surroundings. From the upper deck, one can enjoy board games, card games or a game of pool, whilst keeping a watchful eye on the waterhole. KAMBAKU’S main area has a soaring thatch roof which catches the breeze in summer and creates a lovely feeling of openness. A large fireplace in the lounge area adds to the warmth and ambience in the winter evenings. Furnishings are comfortable and cosy, inviting you to put your feet up and relax.

Dining

According to the comments received from our guests, Kambaku's food is exceptional. Perhaps that is due to the international expert chefs who periodically train our employees in all types of culinary delights. But mainly, the secret to the sophisticated Namibian cooking and international dishes we serve are the fresh bio-vegetables and fruits as well as game from the Kambaku Farm. A small wine cellar with selected wines waits here for connoisseurs who would like to spoil themselves. Next to the well-known classics, it's our pleasure to introduce some secret wines to you drawn from grapes of the vineyards of southern Africa. You'll be pleasantly surprised! On the road our picnic meals also offer sheer joy: baskets filled with delicate snacks and salads are always at hand. Leisurely brunches are served on the veranda or around the pool, and guests are often entertained by the resident warthog family on the lawn. A great place to while away the heat of the day, is on the sundeck with a cocktail in hand, or enjoy a cooling dip in the pool. Dinners are a truly African affair, lighted by the milky way, a large bonfire, and lanterns in the Boma. This is just one of several different locations to spoil yourself with fine wine and bush cuisine while listening to the night calls, fireside bush stories or a guided talk through the stars. The curio shop is stocked with a variety of carefully selected “proudly South African” items, and include KAMBAKU mementos. The lodge also has a Wi-Fi area and mobile phone coverage for those who need to keep in touch with the outside world.

Early Tea Candlelight Dinner

Kambaku's full board and lodging includes early beverages, all main meals, as well as coffee and tea in the afternoon. The breakfast buffet offers scrumptious freshly baked breads and waffles, jams made from garden fruit, cold venison meats, juices and hot drinks. Lunch is a light meal such as fresh salad and homemade pasta. For the converts, you will find cakes or biscuits for self-service with afternoon tea and coffee on the garden porch. Dinner under the stars is a three-course meal. An open fire burns in the fireplace of our roof-terrace, candles and oil lamps shine light over the lovely decorated dishes. It's the perfect setting for a beautiful end to an eventful, active day.

Braai - BBQ in namibia

Every week the antelope steaks and warthog ribs barbequed to perfection prove why Namibians are reluctant to forgo their meat. Guests preferring vegetarian dishes to the traditional venison may enjoy tasty veggies grilled, stuffed or topped with cheese as well as plentiful salads.
